News: 1 dead, 2 injured after train vs SUV crash in Muscatine Co.

MUSCATINE CO., IA - One person died and two others, including a small child, were injured after a train collided with an SUV in West Liberty on Saturday.

According to a report by KJAN, the incident was first reported at about 2:07 p.m. when the 2020 Volkswagen SUV entered the path of a westbound train on Columbus Street.

A 26-year-old passenger in the SUV suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The 27-year-old driver and an 8-year-old passenger were rushed to hospitals in Iowa City.

Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the crash at this time.
