News: Motorcyclist hospitalized after suspected DUI crash in Des Moines

DES MOINES, IA - A motorcyclist was hospitalized following a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in Des Moines early Sunday morning.

According to WHO 13, the crash occurred at about 12:13 a.m. within the 1700 block of University Avenue.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was heading west when an eastbound vehicle pulled into its path, causing the motorcycle to collide with the passenger side.

First responders attempted life-saving measures on the motorcyclist at the scene. He was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The woman in the vehicle was arrested and charged with OWI, failure to yield, and serious injury by motor vehicle.
