WEST DES MOINES, IA - A man who was accused of seriously injuring a police officer while driving drunk last November has been sentenced to five years in prison, the Associated Press reports.
The 62-year-old Kellogg resident was said to be drunk, speeding, and watching a movie when he collided with an officer with the West Des Moines Police Department on I-35 near the Westown Parkway. The officer was standing next to a vehicle he had pulled over at the time.
The accused had been seen drinking at an Osceola casino prior to the crash.
