News: Elderly Marion woman injured after causing rear-end collision

BENTON CO., IA - An elderly woman from Marion was sent to the hospital on Monday after she rear-ended another vehicle south of Atkins on Tuesday, CBS 2 reports.

Authorities say that the incident happened on Highway 30, where the 88-year-old woman drove struck the back of a GMC Arcadia with her Toyota Avalon.

The elderly woman became trapped inside her Avalon, which had come to a stop in the right lane. Emergency resonders rushed her to an area hospital with injuries that are believed not to have been life-threatening.

The Arcadia, meanwhile, ended up in the left lane, where it blocked traffic. for some time following the crash. Its driver, a 34-year-old Anamosa woman, does not appear to have been seriously injured.

Further investigations are ongoing.
