BRANDON, IA - All southbound lanes on I-380 were shut down following a semi-truck crash and fire early Tuesday morning.
According to KCRG, the crash took place along the freeway bridge over Lime Creek at about 4:25 a.m.
Investigators believe the 49-year-old driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the guardrail. The truck then began leaking fuel which eventually sparked a fire.
The driver was able to escape without any significant injuries. He has since been charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
All southbound lanes were shut down for nearly five hours while crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the wreckage.
