News: 2 dead, 1 injured when car strikes semi on I-80

ADAIR CO., IA - Two people were killed and a third was injured when their Toyota Camry slammed into a disabled semi truck on I-80 last Wednesday, KCCI reports.

State police say the fatal collision happened near milepost 76 at about 7 p.m. on July 8. The eastbound Camry struck a tractor-trailer that had been become disabled following a previous collision that happened mere minutes earlier.

A 68-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man who were passengers in the Camry were killed in the crash. The car's 68-year-old female driver was flown to a Des Moines hospital with unspecified injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

The 64-year-old truck driver was unhurt.
