RYAN, IA - Two people were injured following a head-on collision on IA-13 north of the town of Ryan on Tuesday morning, KMCH reports.
The accident happened just south of the highway's intersection with D42 at about 10:15 a.m. on July 21, when the driver of a southbound pickup truck entered the oncoming lanes to pass a motorcycle and collided head-on with a southbound SUV.
The SUV came to a rest in the northbound lanes, while the pickup truck spun out into a ditch on the east side of the highway.
Emergency responders extricated the SUV's 61-year-old male driver and a 60-year-old female passenger from the wreckage. The driver was transported to an area hospital by ambulance, while the passenger was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
It does not appear as though the pickup truck's driver was hurt.
