MARION, IA - An elderly motorist was killed when her vehicle drove off a bridge on Highway 151 east of Marion on Sunday afternoon, KCRG reports.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a single-vehicle accident near the highway's intersection with Stone Road at approximately 3:35 p.m. on July 11. Deputies arrived to find a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer resting on its roof, submerged in the waters of Crabapple Creek.
The Mercury's 80-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe she had been traveling north on 151 when she lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and plunged into the creek.
