News: Teen killed in Mason City crash

MASON CITY, IA - A teenager from Hampton was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on collision in Mason City over the weekend, KCHA reports.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the fatal collision happened in the 3500 block of South Federal Avenue/US 65 at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24.

A Chevrolet Cruze was headed north on 65 when it drifted into the center turn lane and collided with a southbound GMC Acadia.

The Cruze's 17-year-old driver died as a result of the collision.

The 30-year-old woman driving the Acadia was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Further investigations were ongoing as of Monday evening.
