RUTHVEN, IA - A woman is facing OWI charges after she hit a deer with her car north of Ruthven on Tuesday afternoon.
KILR radio reports that, at about 5 p.m., the woman was driving her 2017 Toyota Camry south on 370th Avenue near 310th Street when she struck the deer that was in the roadway. Her vehicle then continued southbound, crossed the centerline, and crashed into a ditch on the east side of the road.
The driver was assessed at the scene by medical personnel. She was subsequently taken into custody and charged with 1st offense OWI and failure to maintain control of her vehicle.
