SABULA, IA - Two people were seriously injured after two boats collided on the Mississippi River in Sabula on Wednesday.
According to a report by Siouxland Proud, The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. just north of Sabula, near river mile marker 542.
Investigators say one boat was following the other too closely when it collided and ramped up on the second vessel.
Two people were seriously injured as a result of the crash. A man was transported to MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and a female victim was airlifted to a hospital in Rockford.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are leading the investigation at this time.
