News: Bystander rescues woman trapped after Alton crash

ALTON, IA - A woman was pulled to safety by a bystander after being involved in a major collision near Alton last night.

According to KCAU, the crash occurred when the female driver of a minivan rear-ended a cattle trailer on Highway 60, near 440th Street.

The minivan then became engulfed in flames with the woman still inside. Fortunately, a nearby motorist stopped and extricated the woman from her vehicle.

The woman was transported to Orange City Area Health and subsequently airlifted to MercyOne Hospital for further treatment.

It is unclear if the truck driver was injured in the crash.
