News: Passenger injured, driver arrested after single-vehicle crash in New Vision

DES MOINES, IA - A passenger was found with gunshot wounds following a single-vehicle crash in Des Moines on Tuesday evening.

According to a report by the Des Moines Police Scanner, the accident occurred when the driver crashed into a sign and a utility pole on 6th Avenue, near MercyOne Medical Center at about 7:30 p.m.

Officers discovered a female passenger in the vehicle with gunshot wounds at the scene of the crash. Her condition remains unclear at this time.

The driver of the unspecified vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was caught a short time later near University Boulevard.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are unclear at this time.
