News: Police arrest second driver connected to fatal crash on Fleur Dr

DES MOINES, IA - According to KCCI, authorities have arrested a second person in connection to a fatal crash on the 1700 block of Fleur Dr on Dec. 13.

A 47-year-old driving a BMW SUV was racing against a 35-year-old driving a Genesis north on Fleur Dr at speeds over 100 mph when the 35-year-old crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided with a Honda Accord driven by a 38-year-old woman.

The woman had two passengers, a 4-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy.

The 35-year-old then slammed into a Chevy Equinox driven by a 40-year-old woman.

Rescue crews transported everyone involved in the collision to an area hospital, where the 4-year-old died from his injuries.

Authorities arrested the 35-year-old driver and charged him with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, drag racing and excessive speed.

Police eventually located and arrested the 47-year-old driver. He has been charged with homicide by vehicle, serious injury by vehicle, drag racing, and reckless driving.
