News: Car crashes, gets stuck on walkway in SE Iowa City

WOODBURY COUNTY, IA -- One person was evaluated after being pulled from the wreckage of a single-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon in southeast Iowa City, according to WHO Des Moines.

Emergency crews responded to the scene in the 900 block of Cunningham Drive at approximately 4:10 p.m.

An early investigation indicates a driver was heading northbound on the road when they lost control of their vehicle, causing it to strike a curb and run up an embankment. The car skidded and came to rest at an angle and was wedged in a pedestrian walkway.

Fire crews extricated one occupant who was evaluated at the scene but was later determined to be uninjured. No other injuries were reported.

The road was shut down as crews continued working to clear the vehicle from the bridge. It was expected to reopened by 6:00 p.m.
