DES MOINES, IA -- A vehicle accident Friday morning blocked a right lane and right shoulder on Interstate 235 near Des Moines' East Village neighborhood, according to Stateside Iowa 511.
The crash happened on the westbound interstate near Pennsylvania Avenue. It was first reported by Iowa 511 at 8:36 a.m.

Only the right shoulder was initially blocked, but by 8:53 a.m., the right lane was shut down.
The scene was not reported cleared until an hour later at 9:36 a.m., indicating a serious collision and extended emergency response.
