DALLAS COUNTY, IA -- A 67-year-old man died Friday morning after a two-vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 6 in Adel, reports The Perry News.
The fatal collision occurred on a stretch of US-6 near Greene Street, between South 7th Street and South 5th Street, at around 10:15 a.m.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the man was behind the wheel of a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck when he pulled out from a private driveway and onto the highway, where he hit a westbound 2018 Freightliner semi-tractor.
Authorities said the victim, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was ejected from the pickup and was fatally injured. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported by medics to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny.
The driver of the semi-tractor, a 50-year-old Texas man, was not reported injured.
An investigation by the ISP remains ongoing.
