News: Driver hospitalized after crash with semi on US-151 in Springville

LINN COUNTY, IA -- An 80-year-old woman was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor and trailer on U.S. Highway 151 in Springville, according to CBS 2 Iowa.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office said the collision occurred on the southbound lanes near Springville Road at around noon.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was driving a Lincoln passenger car northbound when she failed to yield to a Freightliner semi-truck going southbound at the crossover, resulting in the crash.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was transported by private conveyance to St. Luke's Hospital. She has since been issued a ticket for failure to yield before entering the highway.

Authorities said the driver of the semi was not reported injured.
