CERRO GORDO COUNTY, IA -- A 38-year-old Urbandale man was hospitalized Wednesday evening after crashing a snowmobile into Clear Lake, according to ABC6 News.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the scene in the downtown City Park area shortly before 7:00 p.m.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but deputies had received alerts about a missing snowmobiler who was said to be unfamiliar with the area.
Authorities later learned the missing man had been able to rescue himself and make it back to shore.
The victim was transported to Mercy One North Iowa to be evaluated for potential hypothermia.
An investigation into the incident was underway.
