News: One hospitalized after crash on Ingersoll Ave in Des Moines

DES MOINES, IA -- A man was seriously injured early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle wreck near Des Moines' North of Grand neighborhood, according to KCCI.

The accident happened at the intersection of Ingersoll Avenue and 31st Street shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Details are limited, but Des Moines police said a car crashed into a pole, downing power lines in the area.

The male occupant suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. It was not immediately clear whether the patient was the driver or a passenger in the vehicle. Authorities said he is expected to survive.

Crews with MidAmerican Energy also responded to the scene to restore the lines.

An investigation was in progress.
