News: Two killed in solo-car crash on I-74 in Bettendorf

SCOTT COUNTY, IA -- Two people died early Saturday morning after a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 74 in Bettendorf, according to Our Quad Cities.

The Bettendorf Police Department said the fatal wreck was discovered by an Iowa State trooper on the westbound interstate (U.S. Highway 6) near the 3.4-mile marker.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2017 Audi A3 was heading northbound on the interstate when it veered off the roadway and traveled into a ditch on the east side.

Both occupants, a 37-year-old Bettendorf woman and a 28-year-old Davenport man, were ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Scott County Sheriff's Department and crews with Bettendorf Fire Department and the Iowa Department of Transportation also provided assistance at the site.

An investigation remains ongoing.
