News: Child fatally hit by patrol car during fire response in Red Oak

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, IA -- A child died Monday night after being struck by a police patrol vehicle during an emergency response in Red Oak, according to WHO 13 Des Moines.

The fatal incident took place near the intersection of Joy Street and North Broadway Street at around 7:00 p.m.

Iowa State Patrol said three Red oak patrol cars had their emergency equipment on as they responded to a fire at a nearby apartment building. One of the patrol cars was traveling northbound when it hit the child in the roadway.

Authorities confirmed the victim died from their injuries.

An investigation by the ISP remains underway.
