WEST DES MOINES, IA -- At least six collisions were reported Tuesday morning on Interstate 235 near a large shopping center in West Des Moines, according to Des Moines Police Department.
The events impacted both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-235 at the University Avenue interchange. It was first reported by DMPD at 7:40 a.m.

Officers initially responded to two accidents on the interstate, but shortly before 8:00 a.m., up to six crashes were recorded at the interchange.

No details were released regarding the parties involved or whether the crashes were related, but a weather advisory issued by the department suggested high speeds and icy road conditions were a factor.
