News: Driver crashes into utility pole, flees scene in north Des Moines

DES MOINES, IA -- Property damage was reported early Sunday after a driver crashed a car into a utility pole near River Drive Park in north Des Moines, according to KCCI.

The incident occurred at the corner of 14th Street and Euclid Avenue, or U.S. Highway 6, shortly before 2:00 a.m.

It was unclear what led up to the crash, but Des Moines police said all occupants in the car fled the scene of the crash by foot. As of this writing, authorities have not located the suspects.

Crews with MidAmerican Energy responded to the scene to repair damages to the pole.

The event caused a section of Euclid Avenue between 12th Street and 15th Street to shut down in both directions. By noon, the road was reopened to traffic.
