DAVENPORT, IA -- A man died early Sunday morning after a single-vehicle collision near a residential area in north Davenport, according to KWQC.
Davenport police said the fatal crash happened in the 3200 block of Harrison Street shortly before 5:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man was driving a Jeep Liberty southbound on the road when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway and strike a tree.
Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene. No other occupants were in the Jeep at the time, and no other vehicles were involved.
An investigation was in progress, but police believe high speed and "adverse road conditions" contributed to the accident.
