LINN COUNTY, IA -- A man was taken to a hospital Thursday after causing a series of wrong-way collisions on Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids, according to CBS2Iowa.
Cedar Rapids Police said the events unfolded on the southbound lanes between 42nd Street Northeast (Exit 23) and 32nd Street and Glass Road (Exit 22).
An early investigation indicates the man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he attempted to split the lane between a semi-truck and a passenger car.
The maneuver caused the semi to overturn and spill a load of corn onto the roadway as the car ran into the center median.
Authorities said the suspect continued driving until he collided with another semi and passenger car. Shortly after, he stopped the vehicle, exited, took off all his clothing, and fled the scene.
Officers later located him near the intersection of Center Point and 42nd Street. He has since been transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. It was not immediately clear whether he or anyone else was seriously injured.
An investigation remains in progress.
