DES MOINES, IA -- A collision involving a hit-and-run driver Monday morning took down power lines in the Fairground neighborhood of northeast Des Moines, according to Des Moines Police Department.
The incident occurred in the 2300 block of East Grand Avenue and was first reported by DMPD at 7:56 a.m.
It was unclear what led up to the crash or whether anyone was seriously hurt, but authorities said the causing driver fled the scene.
Crews with MidAmerican Energy were en route to restore the lines, and commuters were told to expect delays in the area.
