CERRO GORDO COUNTY, IA -- An Iowa State Patrol Lieutenant was hospitalized Friday after his squad car was rear-ended by a semi-truck near Mason City, according to KCCI.
ISP said the crash happened while the Lieutenant was assisting at the scene of a prior accident.
Authorities said he suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
It was not immediately clear whether the semi driver was cited or charged for their role in the collision.
No details on the exact time and location of the event were made available.
The incident was one of at least 78 crashes both the Des Moines Police Department and ISP responded to on Friday alone.
