News: Pedestrian injured by hit-and-run driver in downtown Des Moines

DES MOINES, IA -- One person was injured early Saturday morning when they were struck by a vehicle in the East Village neighborhood of downtown Des Moines, according to DSM Police Scanner.

The incident took place at the intersection of East 4th Street and East Walnut Street, near Northwestern Hotel. It was first reported by DSM at 2:10 a.m.

Details are limited, but authorities said a driver in a black Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows hit the pedestrian and fled the scene.

First responders arrived to find the victim conscious and breathing, but no further details have been released regarding the extent of the injuries sustained.
