DES MOINES, IA -- Icy road conditions contributed to a chain reaction crash Tuesday morning that sent a car into a building in south Des Moines, reports WHO Des Moines.
The accident took place in the 4400 block of Southeast 14th Street, near the city's South Park neighborhood, at around 9:30 a.m.
Des Moines police said a semi-truck was heading northbound on the road when it struck a patch of black ice. The contact caused the driver to lose control, sending the semi past the median and into the southbound lanes, where it hit an oncoming car. The impact of that crash pushed the car into a corner of a brick building.
No serious injuries to either driver or anyone else were reported.
Authorities have not disclosed further information regarding any charges or citations.
