News: Train derails, blocks IA-17 near Boone Municipal Airport

BOONE COUNTY, IA -- A Landus Cooperative train derailed Thursday morning near Boone Municipal Airport in east Boone, according to KCCI.

The incident occurred on the tracks over Iowa Highway 17, near the 210th Street intersection. It was first reported by Iowa 511 at around 7:15 a.m.

It was unclear what caused the event, but authorities said one of the train cars was partially blocking the highway.

Boone Police and Fire Department crews both responded to the scene.

By 12:54 p.m., more than five hours later, the roadway was reopened to traffic.

At this time, no further details have been released and no serious injuries have been reported.
