News: Woman dies after train hits Jeep in NE Albia

MONROE COUNTY, IA -- A 58-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in a vehicle collision involving an Amtrak passenger train in northeast Albia, according to We Are Iowa.

Iowa State Patrol said the fatal accident occurred at the tracks on 695th Avenue, near the 165th Street intersection.

Few details have been provided at this time, but authorities said the woman was driving a Jeep southbound across the tracks when the train struck her vehicle.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to ISP, no injuries to train passengers or anyone else were reported.

No information regarding a possible cause of the crash has been released, but an investigation was in progress.
