FREEMONT CO., IA - More information has emerged regarding a fatal traffic accident that took place on US-275 south of Sidney early Tuesday afternoon.
WHO 13 reports that a Fremont County Sheriff’s deputy was headed northbound near 260th Street at about 12:30 p.m. when he collided with an oncoming combine that police say was too wide for its lane. The deputy's SUV clipped the combine's front left tire, which caused it the SUV spin sideways and then overturn multiple times.
The deputy died as the result of the crash, which remains under investigation. We do not know whether any charges have been filed at this time but will provide updates as they become available.
