News: 3 evaluated after two-car crash at west Alburnett intersection

LINN COUNTY, IA -- Three people were evaluated late Tuesday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision at a west Alburnett intersection, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Linn County Sheriff's Deputies, Linn County Sheriff's Rescue 57, Alburnett Fire Department crews, and medics with Center Point Ambulance responded to the scene at Alice Road and Lafayette Road shortly after 4:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 21-year-old Cedar Falls woman was driving a black 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound when she entered the intersection without yielding to traffic. Moments later, the Hyundai was hit by a red Hyundai Elantra going southbound.

The driver of the Elantra, a juvenile, and their 48-year-old female passenger, were assessed at the scene.

The driver of the causing Santa Fe was also evaluated for injuries.

Authorities said all three patients declined transport to a hospital, indicating minor injuries.

All occupants were found to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which also deployed airbags in both vehicles.

No further details have been shared at this time.
