News: Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash on US-6 in north Davenport

DAVENPORT, IA -- A 65-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near a north Davenport business, according to Quad-City Times.

Davenport Police responded to the scene in front of the Harbor Freight store at 1010 East Kimberly Road (U.S. Highway 6) shortly after 2:30 p.m.

An early investigation indicates the motorcyclist was heading eastbound on the road when he attempted to turn into the store's parking lot. Authorities said the rider failed to yield to oncoming traffic and hit a westbound Chevrolet Silverado.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Genesis Medical Center East - Davenport before being transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

It was unclear whether or not the other driver was hurt.

An investigation remains ongoing, and as of this writing, no charges have been filed.
