News: Two injured in head-on crash near NE Cedar Rapids

LINN COUNTY, IA -- Two women were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident on East Point Road near northeast Cedar Rapids, according to CBS2Iowa.

Linn County Sheriff's deputies, Linn County Sheriff's Rescue, Marion Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, and multiple other agencies responded to the scene just north of the Cottage Grove Avenue intersection at about 1:23 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 59-year-old Cedar Rapids woman was driving a Jeep Cherokee northbound when she veered past the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2009 Buick Enclave driven by a 41-year-old Marion woman.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital.

An investigation by the LCSO remains underway.
