News: 1 dead, 1 injured in fiery semi crash in Algona

ALGONA, IA - One person is dead and another is seriously injured after two semi trucks collided at a rural intersection southwest of Algona this morning, KCCI reports.

The incident happened at 70th Avenue and 160th Street shortly before 9 a.m. Friday.

Trucker Chad Bjork, 49, was headed south on 70th Avenue when he failed to yield the right of way to a truck driven by Allan Schuler, 48. The force of the collision sent both trucks into a ditch on the southeast side of the intersection, where they caught fire.

Schuler was killed in the crash, while Bjork was airlifted to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
