News: House fire kills 4, injures 4 on Washinton Ave in Mason City

MASON CITY, IA - According to KIMT, a house fire on the 500 block of N Washington Ave killed four children and injured two people Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the fire around 5:05 a.m.

Rescue crews transported John Michael Mcluer, 55, and an 11-year-old girl to an area hospital with burn injuries. They also transported four children, ages 3 to 12 years old, to an area hospital, where they died.

In addition to the house's residents, two firefighters were also hurt in the fire.

The Iowa State Fire Marshall's Office, the Mason City Fire Department, and the Mason City Police Department are investigating the incident.
