News: Multi-vehicle collision kills 1 person on I-80 near Grinnell

POWESHIEK COUNTY, IA - A multi-vehicle collision claimed one person's life on I-80 near Grinnell Monday, according to We Are Iowa.

A Chevrolet pickup truck blew its front left tire around 7:35 a.m. This caused the vehicle to collide with cable barriers. The impact then propelled the truck back into traffic.

Two semi-trucks avoided hitting the Chevrolet, but a third semi-truck driver fatally collided with the rear of one of the other semi-trucks.

Rescue crews pronounced the driver of the third semi-truck dead at the scene of the accident and transported a passenger from one of the other semi-trucks to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
