News: Officer injured following pursuit in Indanola

INDIANOLA, IA - According to WHO 13, a police officer lost two fingers on his left hand during a police pursuit near S J Street and IA 92 on April 1.

The officer attempted to pull over a female suspect around 8 a.m. The suspect refused and police gave chase.

During the pursuit, the officer used stop sticks. The sticks got caught under the suspect's vehicle and severed the fingers from the officer's hand.

Rescue crews transported the officer to an area hospital. The fingers were eventually reattached to the officer's hand, but he still lacks mobility in them.

Authorities eventually apprehended the suspect near Oskaloosa.
