News: 3 displaced following fire on 24th St NE in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Three people were displaced when a fire destroyed their home on the 200 block of 24th St NE on Wednesday, according to KCRG.

Firefighters responded to the fire around 9:30 a.m. They quickly extinguished the fire, which was primarily contained in the basement. They then used fans to remove the smoke from the rest of the home.

Crews found three dogs in the home. One dog died in the fire. The other two were given oxygen therapy.

An adult woman and two children exited the home unharmed.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
