News: Driver fatally collides with grain hopper on US 34 in Union County

UNION COUNTY, IA - According to We Are Iowa, a driver fatally collided with a semi-truck pulling a grain hopper trailer near US 34 and Iris Ave on Friday.

A 17-year-old female was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer east on US 34 when they collided with a semi-truck hauling a grain hopper around 7 p.m.

Rescue crews pronounced the Explorer driver and her front seat passenger, an 18-year-old male, dead at the scene. They transported the other passenger from the Explorer, a 14-year-old boy, to an area hospital.

The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the incident.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
