News: Man, dog die in house fire on 5th St in Burt

BURT, IA - According to We Are Iowa, a man and a dog died in a house fire at 403 5th St on Dec. 21.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 7:45 p.m.

A 58-year-old woman was outside of the house when crews arrived. She told them her 79-year-old husband and dog were still inside the burning house.

Crews got the man out of the fire and transported him and the woman to an area hospital, where the man died. The dog died in the fire.

The incident is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's Office.
