News: Teen charged for hit-and-run crash in stolen car in Davenport

DAVENPORT, IA - According to KWQC, an 18-year-old male has been charged for a crash in a stolen car that injured two people near W 4th Street and N Harrison St on March 21.

The 18-year-old male was driving a stolen 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a 2005 Kia Sportage around 11:23 a.m. The collision pushed the Kia into the H&R Block building at 400 Harrison Street.

Following the crash, rescue crews transported two of the three people inside the Kia to an area hospital.

The 18-year-old fled the scene on foot. Authorities located him in an alley between W 3rd St and W 4th St. He had the key fob to the stolen car.

Authorities charged the 18-year-old with first-degree theft and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury.

The teen's preliminary hearing will be on August 8.
