News: Victim's family sues teens they believe caused her death

IOWA CITY, IA - The family of a 22-year-old woman is suing the two teens they believe fatally collided with her car at E Court St and S 7th Ave on May 27, according to KCRG.

A 17-year-old driving a 2008 Saturn and a 17-year-old driving a 2012 GMC were heading west on Court St when they ran the stop sign at S 7th Ave and collided with a 2017 Chevrolet driven by a 22-year-old woman.

Rescue crews transported the 22-year-old to an area hospital, where she died. Three 17-year-olds were also hurt in the crash.

The 22-year-old woman's family is suing the two teens because they believe the two teens were drag racing on the wrong side of the roadway in underinsured cars. They say the teens are at fault for the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.
