DES MOINES, IA - According to KCCI, a man received 30 years in prison after a fatal two-vehicle collision on Fleur Dr near the airport on Jan. 23.
The man was driving over 100 mph while under the influence of alcohol and other controlled substances when he slammed into the back of a vehicle driven by a 67-year-old woman.
Rescue crews transported both drivers and three passengers from the male's vehicle to an area hospital. The 67-year-old woman died at the hospital on Jan. 27.
The male driver pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.
