News: Driver accused of hitting protestor gets trial date

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - A driver who allegedly struck and injured a protestor near 8th Ave SE and 2nd Street SE on June 24, 2022 has a new jury trial date, according to KCRG.

David Alan Huston was at a stoplight when he approached protestors with his pickup truck. Police believe his approach was "aggressive" when he hit one of the protestors.

Authorities eventually charged Huston with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Assault by Use or Display of a Dangerous Weapon (Vehicle).

Huston's near trial date is August 7, 2023 at the Linn County Courthouse.
