OTTUMWA, IA - Authorities have charged a man after he allegedly set a house on fire on Wabash Ave on Nov. 21, according to We Are Iowa.
Emergency responders were called to the scene of the fire around 2:15 a.m. An 84-year-old woman was trapped inside the house.
Rescue crews broke a window and rescued the woman. They transported her to an area hospital, where she was treated and released.
The woman's two dogs died in the fire.
Authorities charged the woman's son, a 67-year-old man, with Arson in the First Degree and two counts of Animal Abuse. The man was living with the woman at the time of the fire.
