News: Parents of child injured in hay ride in Keokuk county file lawsuit

KEOKUK COUNTY, IA - The parents of a 12-year-old girl who was injured in a hay ride on October 14th have filed a lawsuit, according to KCCI.

A pickup truck pulling a trailer for a hayride as part of a non-school sponsored event crashed around 9 a.m. An unknown number of Sigourney Middle School 7th graders were hurt in the incident.

The lawsuit is against the couple who organized the event and the driver who crashed. The lawsuit claims the driver was driving in a negligent manner.

The husband of the couple who organized the event resigned as a Keokuk County sheriff's deputy on Monday.

It is unclear if any criminal charges have been filed in regard to the incident.
