News: Troopers investigate fatal 2-vehicle crash on US 61 near Welton

WELTON, IA - The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that happened on US 61 on Friday, according to KWQC.

The driver of a 2020 Ford Escape collided with a deer around 5:25 p.m. The Escape's two occupants, a 68-year-old woman and another person, exited the vehicle.

A 19-year-old man driving a 2012 Chevy Silverado hit the vehicle and the 68-year-old woman.

The collision sent the Silverado crashing into a ditch. The Escape came to rest in the median.

The 68-year-old woman died from her injuries. Rescue crews transported an 18-year-old woman to an area hospital. It is unclear which vehicle the 18-year-old woman was in.
